I'd be much more anti-Ann if I didn't see thru the thinly constructed little facade she puts up...she's there so that guys who get a hard-on listening to Rush don't have to question their sexuality, which might actually cause them to *think*. She's an extremist. In her books, she basically calls democrats unpatriotic idiots. She seems to be stuck in the red scare. It's understandable that communism scared us, because it was a threat to our way of life, to the american dream, to the protestant work ethic, but I don't understand how anyone could still be scared by it and think Joseph McCarthy and all those communist probes that ruined many honest people were necessary. Any true patriot should think that Joseph McCarthy is inherently bad. And that's just the tip of the iceberg

Apparently you aren't either. Anne uses endnotes. Footnotes go at the bottom of the page. Nice try though, maybe it's time for a remedial English course.
For those who like to see Coulter's lack of research, there's a site which has gone through every one of her footnotes in Chapter 2 and shows just how little research she did do. Apparently every time she had a thought she wanted to put down, she'd go to Lexis/Nexis and grabbed the first hit she got w/o really looking too hard at what she was referencing. I think every one has it all wrong about her, she wants to sell books, be on TV, become a celebrity, and make money. She's found a great way to take advantage of a lot of people's fear and prejudices and turn it to her monetary advantage. Besides she's a Cornell graduate (my Alma Mater), we don't let conservatives go there. She actually a liberal, laughing all the way to the bank making fun of you right wingers..

It is truly amazing that anyone could manage to get such an awful piece of garbage as Ann Coulter's book published. Even more amazing is that anyone would actually believe the patent nonsense that is printed within. Just one example: Ann seems to believe that Joe McCarthy was "right" in his crusade to ferret out all the imaginary Communist spies in the U.S. Government. And of course, according to Fascist Ann, anyone who even questioned people like Joe McCarthy was a "traitor". So, logically, Ann is demanding that we accept Mr. McCarthy's accusations that the top leadership of the United States Army was populated with Communist spies in the 50's. That IS what Joe McCarthy alleged. Remember the "Army-McCarthy Hearings"? And since Eisenhower had been part of that Army leadership since World War II, I guess a good patriotic conservative would be required to believe that HE too, was a Communist spy, right? Before any Ann-Coulter-true-believer starts to back-pedal on this issue, I must warn you that you are QUESTIONING Joe McCarthy if you argue against this. And remember, you're not allowed to question ANYTHING that the man said, because Ann said so. So therefore, your own loyalty to our American Way of life must be suspect. Don't argue with me, I'm just parroting what Ann says in her book, as a true American is supposed to. RIGHT ???

I have to second Dave's recommendation to read Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right. Don't let the title scare you away; it's not to be taken seriously. It's just a dig at some of the conservative writers (Coulter etc.) and their aggressive ‘book’ titles. In this book, Franken tries to reveal lies told by writers like Coulter, Limbaugh, and O’Reilly by actually going through their books and finding concrete evidence and backs it up with obvious, discrediting, humorous commentary. It most likely will not change your political views, but it does do a good job of revealing how the media and politicians manipulate the public.
"At the time, serious thought was given to prosecuting her, but the ruling class was equivocal about treason. The refusal to prosecute Fonda was just one more indication that we weren't fighting that war to win." (Treason, 257)
So, it's alright when Ann says something that fits her definition of "treason"? By "that war," she is either literally refering to Vietnam or, perhaps, to the war agaist treason. Either way, she's a hypocrite.
Here's another one of her rock-solid cases: "What the media saw as the crucial, salient fact about sniper John Muhammad was that he was a Gulf War veteren. CNN valiantly insisted on calling John Muhammad by his Christian name- a name he hadn't used in 17 years. The night the snipers' names were released, CNN's Jeanne Meserve repeatedly called him John Allen Williams." (Treason, 280)
Ann is making a weak attempt to suggest that the "libral media" went out of it's way to hide the fact that the D.C. sniper was Muslim, and in doing so, neglecting the threat that Muslim extremists might pose to our country, simply because it is not p.c. Now, let me ask you something: does the name John Allen Williams ring a bell? At all? How about the name John Muhammed? I thought so. Nice try, Ann. Go to hell.

This is probably my favorite line from that book- though not my favorite Coulter quote altogether, she's had some classics. it just makes me say "what the fuck?!" Now, I don't like to accuse people of racism just because they're not p.c., but like I said before, "what the fuck?!" The rhetoric throughout the whole book is that only certain people in this nation (the ones with views similar to Ann's) are real Americans. She just casually refers to the right and the left, respectively, as "Americans" and "traitors" and she obviously doesn't care too much for the traitors. As if this isn't bad enough, she just casually states that real Americans look like Europeans. "What the fuck?!" I wish Ann Coulter would get on the boat and go back where she came from.

I hate to break it to you but I read the book and yes Coulter did say that. Not to mention many other extreme lies such as...

And a lot of times....one who does not have her facts straight. Eric Brogden (sp) put her in her place with her lack of knowledge of middle east history when she insisted she knew. She is all for show and most of it is a "me..me..all about me" media resume to get attention. There is as much hatred coming from her mouth as there has been from any ruthless dictator. And she considers herself a Christian. This woman is a disgrace to the human race, to the female gender, and an ongoing joke to the respected areas of law and journalism.

Unlike Ann, who seems obviously insane, Jay is extremely level-headed and very well-spoken, and as such, is very convincing.
He's doesn't think he should have to pay his taxes, but God forbid we should ever lack the funding needed to keep a strong military. He has made it a point to mention that he is against programs that would make it easier for families from the inner city to move into his neighborhood because people from impoverished areas are more likely to commit crimes, yet he was dead set against the mayor's proposal for a federally sponsored program that would provide summer jobs for teens from poor families. Jay disagreed with the premise that making money would help steer them away from crime and basically said that these kids are already screwed-up and the proper place for them is in jail. (I'm sorry I don't have a quote) He regularly uses the term "wetback" on his show, and reminds his listeners that in the near future, if we don't do something about it, America will be a predominantly black and Chicano, Spanish speaking nation.
